- PARLIAMENT PASSES THE COMPANIES AMENDMENT BILL 2017
The Parliament of INDIA has passed the companies amendment bill by voice vote. The bill has been passed to strengthen the corporate governance standards, and take a strict action against defaulter companies which will help to improve the ease of doing business in the country.The Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2017 which seeks to bring about major changes in the Companies Act, 2013, was passed by the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday by a voice vote.
- ANDHRA PRADESH CABINET APPROVES PENSION FOR STATES TRANSGENDER
The Andhra Pradesh cabinet on saturday approved a scheme to provide pension to the transgender of Rs.1500 who are above 18 years of age in the state. Under this scheme the transgender will be provided ration cards, plots and scholarships, also skill development for the financial stability.

- CANADA, US TO HOST NORTH KOREA CRISIS TALKS ON JANUARY 16, 2018
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Canada’s Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland take part in a news conference on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Canada and the United States announced they will host a summit of foreign ministers in Vancouver on January 16, including envoys from Japan and South Korea, to seek progress on the North Korean nuclear crisis. “We believe a diplomatic solution to the crisis is essential and possible,” Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland told a joint press conference with visiting US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
- WHO DECLARED GABON AS POLIO-FREE COUNTRY
The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared Gabon a “polio-free country”. This comes after lack of new reported or suspected cases in the central African country in recent times. But the UN health agency has recommended taking necessary steps to continue monitoring for possible signs of the disease.

- OLA ACQUIRES FOODPANDA INDIA BUSINESS, TO INVEST ANOTHER $200 MILLION
Ola operated by ANI Technologies Pvt. Ltd has acquired food delivery start-up which is the third largest food delivery business in INDIA- Foodpanda India Pvt. Ltd from its German parent Delivery Hero. Under the agreement, Ola will also commit to invest $200 million in foodpanda India.
- IRAQ OVERTAKES SAUDI ARABIA AS TOP OIL SUPPLIER TO INDIA
Iraq has overtaken Saudi Arabia for the first time to be INDIA’s top crude oil supplier in the current fiscal, according to the Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Saudi Arabia traditionally has been India’s top oil source but in the April-October period of 2017-18, Iraq uncrowned it, supplying 25.8 million tonnes (MT) of oil.
